Bates junior kicker/punter Archie Green Jr. was named NESCAC Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday for his performance in the football team’s 27-23 win at Amherst.

Green Jr. (Upland, Calif.) averaged 33 yards per punt with a long of 41, pinning Amherst inside its own 20-yard line twice, as both teams battled for field position in a back-and-forth affair that saw Bates come out on top. He also made a season-high three PATs.

Green Jr. becomes Bates’ first NESCAC Special Teams Player of the Week since kicker Simon Redfern ’22 received the award on Sept. 19, 2021.

The Bobcats (1-3) return home this Saturday to host rival Bowdoin (1-3) in “The Big Game” at Garcelon Field. Kick is set for 5:30pm.
