A Cesar Hoover (San Diego, Calif.) goal in the 75th minute was all Bates College would need as the Bobcats held off Colby College, 1-0, to earn a NESCAC triumph in the 2022 men’s soccer season finale for both programs.

The first-year forward sent in his second tally of the year at 74:08, guaranteeing the garnet and white finish above .500 at 6-5-4 overall (2-5-3 NESCAC). The Bobcats went 3-1-4 over their final eight outings. Colby closes its campaign at 4-4-7 (1-4-5 NESCAC).

Despite the outcome, the Mules still owned the advantage in the shot column at 13-8 with both squads getting off three efforts apiece on frame.

First-year keeper Nico Hessel (Brattleboro, Vt.) ends his maiden collegiate campaign with his fifth shutout performance (2 saves, 90:00) for the Bobcats.
