Bates College released on April 8 a slideshow showcasing student, faculty, and staff activities throughout the month of March. The collection features moments from academic courses, athletic competitions, performances, and community events.

The monthly highlight provides insight into the diverse opportunities available at Bates. It demonstrates how students engage both inside and outside the classroom through academics, athletics, arts, and community gatherings.

Among the featured events are successful athletic achievements such as Ava James ’26, Mya Hicks ’27, and Elsa Daulerio ’26 celebrating a basketball victory against Smith in the NCAA Division III Championships. Another highlight includes Tim Johnson ’27 and teammates earning fourth place in the 400-yard freestyle relay final at the NCAA Championships with a program-best time of 2:57.90.

The arts were also prominent during March with Mo Al-Jabry ’28 performing in Bates Theater’s production of “Everybody,” which sold out all performances. The slideshow documents various classroom experiences as well; for example, Professor Cynthia Baker prepared her “Sacred Ecologies” class for a visit from author Bayley Marquez.

Community traditions like Senior Toast brought together members of the Class of 2026 to celebrate their accomplishments ahead of graduation. Other notable moments include musical master classes by visiting artists Randall Scarlata and Gilbert Kalish; cultural celebrations such as the Ramadan Banquet hosted by the Muslim Student Association; ongoing academic engagement across disciplines; off-campus excursions to local businesses; and unique campus traditions like Flipping of the Birds at Ladd Library.

The college also celebrated its annual day of giving—Great Day to be a Bobcat—which resulted in over $1.18 million raised from more than 2,400 donors. Looking ahead, prospective students will have further opportunities to experience campus life during upcoming Bates Beginnings sessions.
