Juniors Paige Cote and Kami Lambert both earned NFHCA All-Region honors, as announced Tuesday by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.

Cote (Auburn, Maine) earned First Team All-Region honors. The team captain dished out 13 assists on the season, two shy of the Bates record for assists in one season of 15, set by Sandi Korpela ’77 in 1976. Cote’s 23 career assists are the most in Bates field hockey history. She surpassed Julia Price ’03 in the record books with one full season still remaining in Cote’s collegiate career.

Cote also scored six goals this year, giving her 25 points on the season, second on the team and tied for eighth in the NESCAC. She scored three game-winning goals, including game-winning tallies against conference foes Connecticut College and Colby. Cote was also a First Team All-NESCAC selection.

Lambert (Augusta, Maine) earned Second Team All-Region honors. She finished the regular season first on the team and tied for sixth in the NESCAC with 27 points (team-high 12 goals and three assists) on the year.

Bates finished the year ranked 20th in the country, going 9-7 overall and 5-5 in NESCAC action. The Bobcats posted their fourth winning season in the past six years.

Division III teams are separated into six regions by the NFHCA: Region I, Region II, Region III, Region IV, Region V, and Region VI. The Bobcats are in Region II. Each region honors up to 16 student-athletes on a first team and up to 16 student-athletes on a second team.

The NFHCA Division III All-Region team announcement is the first in a list of postseason awards to come from the NFHCA over the next several weeks. Next to be announced are the NFHCA Regional Players of the Year on November 30. They will be followed by the NFHCA All-American teams on December 13. Then the NFHCA National Player of the Year will be announced on December 15.
