Congratulations to Lewiston Leads Recipient Cathy McDonald.  At the March 21, 2023, City Council meeting, Mayor Carl L. Sheline recognized Cathy McDonald’s 40 years of community service and presented her with a Challenge Coin.

“Cathy has done it all, from serving on the Board of the Androscoggin Historical Society, to being the president of the Saint Joseph’s and Saint Dom’s booster clubs, to being a member of the Foundation Board at Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, as well as chairing the event “Autumn Night Out,” ultimately raising over $500,000 for the organization. She is a role model for anyone aspiring to make a difference by volunteering or fundraising in the Lewiston-Auburn community.

What she might be known most for is her involvement in the Liberty Fest since its beginnings in 1997. Those incredible events and fireworks would not have been possible without her commitment to this city and her strong patriotism. When preparing for this recognition, she told me, ‘It is my way to give back to the city and those who have served for our freedoms.’ Cathy’s dedication to our veterans and to building community is what makes her an invaluable leader in our city.”
