The City of Lewiston was honored to welcome Wreaths Across America on Sunday, December 11, as it heads to Washington DC for annual veteran wreath placement.  The large convoy visited Thomas J. McMahon Elementary School, named in memory of a 20-year-old young man who lost his life in Vietnam in his effort to assist others.  His brother, Michael McMahon, who continues to honor his life and memory, welcomed the convoy.  It was a powerful afternoon!

“Wreaths Across America, thank you for visiting Lewiston and the Thomas J. McMahon Elementary School today. Please take with you our sincere gratitude for your efforts and journey and our solemn and sincere respect for our heroes who lie beneath each wreath you place,” stated Mayor Carl L. Sheline.  To read the Mayor’s entire speech, visit:  www.lewistonmaine.gov/wreaths22

At the December 11 ceremony, Lewiston Police Department Corporals Jeremy Somma and Kevin Gagne joined the convoy to continue with the transport to DC. They are both United States Marine veterans, and Mayor Sheline praised their continued service.
