Lewiston City The First-in-Maine Fitness Court is Open in Lewiston

The first-in-Maine Fitness Court is open in Lewiston! Today’s ribbon cutting, enthusiastic comments by Mayor Carl L. Sheline, Community Health Options President/CEO Kevin Lewis, and YMCA CEO Steve Wallace were further “pumped up” by a fierce Fitness Court challenge between highly competitive members of the Lewiston Police and Lewiston Fire Departments. LPD participants won the challenge!  Nicole Oberlander, YMCA Executive Director of Health, Wellness, and Fitness, facilitated the challenge with her YMCA court ambassadors/fitness team. There was a huge turnout for the event, to include Council President Lee Clement, Councilor Rick LaChapelle, Councilor Scott Harriman, and Councilor Robert McCarthy, and many attendees tried out the Fitness Court’s 7 stations at the close of the program. This new outdoor exercise site is located in Simard-Payne Memorial Park behind The Hampton Inn at 15 Lincoln Street, Lewiston, and was made possible through a partnership with National Fitness Campaign, Community Health Options, and the City of Lewiston.  Shout out to a very lively Coach Malik Hall who served as emcee and to Lewiston Public Works for their dedication and many hours of site preparation.
