The Bates men's golf team improved by two strokes as a team on Sunday, wrapping up the Bowdoin Invitational, held at Brunswick Golf Club, in 14th place.
The Bobcats shot 656 as a team, 22 strokes ahead of NESCAC rival Colby College. Bates shot 329 on Saturday and improved to 327 on Sunday.
Junior Paul Detre (Morristown, N.J.) paced the Bobcats with back-to-back rounds of 80, good for a tie for 37th place out of 80 competitors in the field.
Meanwhile, sophomore Fred Curtis (Harvard, Mass.) showed massive improvement from day one to day two, shooting a 77 on Sunday after recording an 85 on Saturday. Sunday's round for Curtis was the best of the weekend among the Bobcats and moved him up 12 spots in the field. Curtis finished in a tie for 44th place.
The Bobcats host the CBB Championship at Martindale Country Club this Saturday at 11am.
