The Mustangs knew they had a tough task on Thursday night playing a team who hasn't lost a regular season game in the last couple of years. But the Mustangs were up for the challenge and would end up winning the game 5-4 (Overtime) in what truly was a battle royal between two great hockey teams. Nate Marcotte was able to collect a loose puck in his own zone and create a 2-1 rush. With no hesitation he found the short side top corner and the Mustangs erupted from the bench to celebrate the hard-fought victory.
After the game, Jordy Knoren commented on his teams effort, "These are the games that show us why we love the game of hockey. Our team battled so hard and fought through adversity in multiple ways, they earned the win tonight as a group. The pace was incredibly high all game and this shows that we have worked hard to prepare for these moments."
