Bates College Paige Cote Named NESCAC Field Hockey Player of the Week

Bates junior captain Paige Cote was named NESCAC Field Hockey Player of the Week on Monday by the New England Small College Athletic Conference, following her trio of outstanding performances in a 3-0 start to the season for the Bobcats.

Cote (Auburn, Maine) totaled seven points with two goals and three assists on the week.

She collected two goals, including the game-winner, in a 7-0 win at Southern Maine, and provided an assist on the Bobcats' second goal in Bates' 2-1 upset of No. 6 nationally ranked Bowdoin. The win over Bowdoin marked the field hockey team's first victory over the Polar Bears since 1984. Cote closed the week with two assists in a 6-0 win over Denison.

Cote is the Bobcats' first NESCAC Field Hockey Player of the Week since Taylor Lough '19 in 2017.

The Bates field hockey team is off to the program's best start to a season since 2006. Bates hosts No. 7 Babson this Wednesday at 6pm on Campus Avenue Field.
