First-year Ruby Haylock tied for 17th out of 74 competitors to pace the Bates women's golf team over the weekend at the George Phinney Classic.
Haylock (Hartford, Maine) finished with a two-day score of 167 at Ralph Myhre Golf Course, shooting an 83 on Saturday and an 84 on Sunday. Overall, the Bobcats shot an even 700, good for eighth place out of the 12 teams in the field.
Sophomore Maddy Kwei (Pasadena, Calif.) bounced back from a tough day Saturday to shoot a 78 on Sunday, the low round of the tournament for Bates. She finished three strokes behind Haylock in a tie for 27th place.
Junior Alex Voight-Shelley (State College, Pa.) shot rounds of 87 and 86 to finish in a tie for 33rd place, three strokes behind Kwei.
The Bobcats are back in action this Saturday and Sunday at the NESCAC Fall Qualifier, being held at Cold Spring Country Club.
