Sophomore Mathias Boudreau-Golfman and junior captain Olivia Cuneo led the way Saturday in the 10K freestyle for the Bobcat Nordic skiing teams at the Bates Carnival.
On the men's side, Boudreau-Golfman (Londonderry, Vt.) took 20th place out of 83 competitors with a time of 24:52.6, earning 23 carnival points and 11 NCAA points. Senior captain Zander Martin (York, Maine) also had a strong day, placing 22nd in 24:59.4, picking up 22 carnival points and 10 NCAA points. Junior Cal Schrupp (Gilford, N.H.) rounded out the scoring for the Bates men in 36th place with a time of 25:39.2, tallying 14 carnival points.
Cuneo (St. George, Vt.) paced the Bates women, finishing in 26th place out of 81 skiers in 30:15.3, earning 18 carnival points and five NCAA points. Sophomore Katie Watt (Concord, N.H.) finished in 44th place in 31:41.8 and sophomore Nina Chosy (Madison, Wis.) took 46th in 32:10.9, earning 12 and 11 carnival points respectively for Bates.
The Nordic and alpine skiing teams combined for 399 points over the weekend, good for eighth place out of 14 schools in the first carnival of the season.
